Osteopathy for infants & children

Osteopathy for infants & children in Steinsel, Luxembourg

Birth, growth, school and sports put a lot of strain on the bodies of infants, children and teenagers. Osteopathy offers a gentle, hands-on approach to ease tension, improve comfort and support each stage of development.

Osteopathy for infants

The first months of life can be accompanied by colic, reflux, frequent crying or difficulties with sucking. Using a very gentle touch, osteopathy helps babies digest better, relax and regain overall comfort, especially after a long, difficult or instrument-assisted birth.

Osteopathy for children & teenagers

With growth, school, carrying a backpack, screen use and sometimes intensive sports, children and teenagers can develop back pain, muscle tension or postural issues. Osteopathy helps support these changes, relieve pain and promote a more balanced posture.

Main reasons for consultation:

  • Growing pains in knees, hips and back

  • Early scoliosis, rounded back, rounded shoulders

  • Neck stiffness, headaches

  • Functional digestive disorders (constipation, bloating, reflux)

  • Sports-related pain, sprains, muscular overload

  • Fatigue and tension linked to school-related stress

How does a session work?

The session begins with a discussion with the parents (and with the child if they are older) to understand the reason for consultation, context and medical history. The osteopath then observes posture and performs gentle manual tests to identify areas of tension or reduced mobility.

The infant can stay in their parents’ arms or lie on the table, and children and teenagers are encouraged to share how they feel. A session usually lasts around 45 minutes.

Typical session:

  • Discussion time and targeted questions

  • Observation of posture and movements

  • Gentle manual techniques (tissue, cranial, non-forced joint, adapted visceral work)

  • Simple home advice (positions, routine, movements to adjust)

When should you consult?

Osteopathy can be considered from the first weeks of life as a check-up, or later when pain, tension or postural changes appear in the child or teenager. It forms part of an overall approach, complementing paediatrics and general medicine.

The Osteopathy Practice of Frédérik Michel welcomes infants, children and teenagers from Steinsel, Bereldange, Walferdange, Helmsange, Lorentzweiler, Hunsdorf, Bofferdange, Lintgen, Mersch, Luxembourg City, Redange, Esch-sur-Alzette, Capellen and more broadly from all over Luxembourg.
